Here's how you can take part in the Alternative Whisky Trail, ideal if the Ardrossan - Campbeltown ferry isn't on or as a great route in its own right.

Start on the Isle of Arran. Get there via the Ardrossan-Brodick Ferry. Book visits to:

Your length of stay depends on the number of tours booked and any other sightseeing you may be doing. You would only need to stay in the one place as venues in Arran are all within easy car distance.

Get to Campbeltown next, via Lochranza-Claonaig Ferry.
