Gowanlea Heights is a Visit Scotland Four Star B&B in a marvellous Victorian Villa in Campbeltown; so you can be assured of quality and comfort while you enjoy your drams!
Here’s how you can take part in the Alternative Whisky Trail, ideal if the Ardrossan – Campbeltown ferry isn’t on or as a great route in its own right.
Start on the Isle of Arran. Get there via the Ardrossan-Brodick Ferry. Book visits to:
- Isle of Arran Brewery, Cladach, Brodick.
- Arran Botanicals, Cladach, Brodick
- Seagate Brewery, Lamlash
- The Lagg Whisky Distillery, Lagg
- The Arran Distillery, Lochranza
Your length of stay depends on the number of tours booked and any other sightseeing you may be doing. You would only need to stay in the one place as venues in Arran are all within easy car distance.
Get to Campbeltown next, via Lochranza-Claonaig Ferry.
With a rich whisky history and three distilleries, Campbeltown is an ideal point within your epic tour of Western Scotland distilleries. Obviously, book to stay with us, but next on your itinerary are:
Mitchell’s Glengyle (for Kilkerran), Glen Scotia and last but not least, Springbank with its amazing end to end tour. Add the oldest independent bottlers in Scotland, Cadenhead, and your whisky visit to Campbeltown is complete.
We also have botanicals here too, check out Kintyre Gin whilst you’re here.
For excellent dining, just along the road is Number Forty Two restaurant and the Harbourview Grill, and around the corner from us is The Ardshiel with its amazing whisky selection and evening meals. Don’t forget the amazing independent cafes and shops Campbeltown is blessed with, as well as the historic sights and amazing scenery. Again, stay in one place as places in Kintyre are all within day trip distance.
Once you’ve spent a few days here and taken advantage of our Stay Longer Offer, a short forty five minute drive gets you to the Islay ferry at Kennacraig to continue your whisky journey.
On that day, we’d be delighted to offer you the choice of an extra early morning breakfast, ready for you and served at 7am, so you can catch the ferry, or a free packed brunch for your journey.
Book with us now to guarantee yourselves a stay in one of the best places in town with an included, delicious breakfast to set you up for each day.
